My thoughts: I give it ❣❣. I added the second star because the narration was very well done.
I found the story line initially gripping and exciting, even though it was difficult to keep track of all the characters. I was confused between who was who. It had a huge cast of characters, most of whom didn’t have much to distinguish them. If I’d been reading it on paper, I’d have been flicking back and forth to the list of characters (if there was one) to remind myself who was FBI, who was CIA, who was NSA, who was a cop, and so on. As it was, I was listening to this from my Audible app on my iPhone so it wasn’t an option anyway.
About half way through I began to lose interest, and glossed over several sections but I stuck with it to the end. Then…what? There was no real ending. Just a set up for next next book in the series!
I felt no affinity or empathy with any of the characters. In this type of book, one character usually stands out as the likable hero, but in this case Daniel Petrovich did nothing to redeem himself, by killing innocent and guilty alike.
